Let me introduce a hugely popular tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen shop in Kurume that has been loved for years.
It is the “Taiho Ramen Main Store,” located at 11-8 Torisotomachi, Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture! 🍜
This is a long-established tonkotsu ramen shop founded in 1953. 🍜
It was even featured in the 2014 Michelin Guide and is a wildly popular spot cherished by many. 😃
Incidentally, this shop is said to be the birthplace of the “Yobimodoshi” (continuous replenishment) soup method characteristic of Kurume ramen.
This time, I ordered the “Mukashi Ramen” (Old-style Ramen) and gyoza!
The “Mukashi Ramen” features crispy bits of fried pork fat (rendered from lard), creating a rich, hearty flavor that’s sure to satisfy fans of bold, heavy ramen! 🍜
It offers the full, savory depth of pork bone broth combined with a nostalgic touch—a taste that is truly addictive. 😍
It’s easy to see why this place has been loved for so long!
It is absolutely delicious. 😋
The gyoza are cute, bite-sized dumplings that pair perfectly with the ramen. 🥟
I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking to fully enjoy a rich, savory pork bone broth experience!
