Founded in 1895 in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, their chestnut buns, filled with auspicious chestnuts (kachi chestnuts), often used as New Year’s gifts, have been extremely popular since their founding!
These oval-shaped chestnut buns are baked to a glossy chestnut brown and feature a moist, soft filling filled with peeled chestnuts marinated in honey. Their simple and gentle flavor is perhaps why they’ve been passed down for 100 years. 😌
